Welcome to
MRC Lithics
Matthew Clay is a passionate artisan who has devoted himself to studying and practicing the ancient art of Flintknapping. It is one of the oldest survival skills of early humans, and it requires an incredible level of innovation, dedication, and craftsmanship to master.
Almost every culture in the world has utilized the conchoidal fracture mechanics of silicate stones to create complex, and highly functional tools at one point or another in our human timeline.
It is a true testament to the resourcefulness of our early ancestors, and is truly an art form all of it's own.
Matthew embraces the rich heritage of stone toolmaking and attempts to bring pre-history back to life through his intricate lithic creations.
You can explore his gallery of past works and purchase currently available stone age recreations of arrowheads, spearpoints, knives, and eccentric wire wrapped jewelry, and more.
